While hiking this weekend near Kettle Creek State Park we stumbled on a turkey. The turkey started to run away but it didn't go very far. It just was hopping around and acting crazy. I got my camera out when I realized there was a few turkey chicks near us. I tried to take a few pictures without disturbing them too much. The final picture is of the mother turkey.

Nice pics, they sure do blend in well. Around here I'm hearing a good number of people starting to see them so maybe we are going to have a good hatch this year.

I read an article some time ago about turkeys and amoung other things the author said that poults must be healthy enough to move with the hen in a matter of hours after hatching. That, to me anyhow, says a lot for the bird in terms of toughness and survivability. Great animal and a neat set of photos.
