I have to haul something in my pick-up with the tailgate down due length of what I am hauling. If I leave the cap rear door open will it flop around or stay open? If it will flop, how can I keep it open such not to break the glass?

I doubt it would flop around unless you were basically jumping the truck. The hydraulic shocks on mine take a considerable amount of force to bring the back window down.

That being said, I'd just take the bumps slowly if it's a rough road. I would think highway or blacktop would be just fine.

I've used bungees for that dozens of times. Hauling carpet, flooring rolls, etc. Pull the lid down against the item and bungee it.

If what you are hauling is low enough just put it down. If not, I just leave mine up and the hydraulics keep it stationary.
