Are there any federal and/or state rules for using domestically raised live mallards to train a dog? Someone told me that the ducks web has to be punched or toe clipped. Is this true?

I do not have the regulations...but know that...

When using Mallards to train dogs, you need to have mallards with a toe clipped (This is done right after they Hatch)
and a band on the leg...

John, R.S.B or 1 of the WCOs will have the regulations so you can read them...

There are state laws that cover dog training with live and or dead game birds. Birds bought from a propagator must be marked and if you are releasing them alive and shooting them for training, you need a retriever trail permit. cost is $25.
