Well conditions were horrible tonight, but I still went out hunting anyway. Wind was almost constantly blowing strong. 2nd set managed to call in a coyote. Had a good set up, calling in a cross wind. Came in from behind on the downwind side. I knew I was gonna get winded. It was coming in at a steady pace not stopping. Just before it got downwind I barked, it didn't stop. Barked a second time and it went about 20 more yards and stopped giving me a perfect broadside shot. Unfortunately it lined itself up perfectly with the neighboring farms barn and house about 400yds or so behind. 😡 It stood there a moment, winded me of course as it was directly down wind at this point. Took off running continuing in the same direction. I barked and it ran a little faster. 😕 Got one shot off at it running. Think I led too much again. Bye bye yotie friend, nice seein ya. Lesson learned, should have been a little more direct about getting it stopped sooner or taking the shot before it got in the smell Kevin zone. Oh well, another fix to deepen the addition. Next time hootie howler, 😉 next time.

Re: Tough conditions tonight buf got a response.

Animals were moving excellent last night. I only did two stand, but called in three. Unfortunately I had some ammo issues that cost me two. I know a few people that were out and they all called in quite a few.

Opening night was very tough here with the wind and rain, but we managed a red and a grey, missed a yote, could have easily killed a bobcat and had commitment issues from four other fox.
