I have replaced the whole cv joint twice in my ranger. The snap rings are a real bugger if you dont have the tool. How close are you to Potter, Coudersport area? I'd help you do it if you are somewhat close.

A dealer is going to hose you on that, since you have to take off the tire, brakes, cv joint...basically everything just to put on a new one. Not sure where these guys are saying it will only take 20 mins...not sure they ever did one if they are estimating those times......

They arent that bad to do. Get the pliers for the snap rings. The first time is going to take you a little while. Take your time and be patient, you will figure it out.

I made the mistake of not replacing one on my polaris 500 soon enough. I rode it for quite awhile with a torn boot. Big mistake. I ended up repacing the axle. Don't ride it till it's fixed.

It sits in the garage at camp until I can dig my trailer out from under a foot or more of snow. I am not much of a mechanic so I think I will take it in for someone else to make the repair. Can anyone suggest someone in the Warren PA area that could make the repair?
