Thinking about getting back to the Tioga state forest again this year for deer. Last time I was up hunting there a few years ago there were a lot of trees marked for cutting (maybe gas well?) I assume and just wanted to know if anyone has any info on a particular area...buck ridge road, butternut hollow, cushman.... I plan to go up and do some scouting later in the summer/fall but just want to know if this particular area is still huntable?

Our camp is on Buck Ridge and they were logging off of Buck Ridge the last few years. They were logging off the first gated road on Buck Ridge coming from Butternut. It is pretty open now on the upper end of the logging road. We really haven't seen many deer the past few years.
I think the area on Butternut near Randall road where the clear cut is looks promising. My one son hunted there last year a saw a few deer. Not only are the fewer deer we don't see the amount of hunters in the woods.

For whats it worth the bear population is really great the last few years. We got one last year not far of the logging road.

Thanks for the info. The last time I was there was probably 3 or 4 years ago and there were a heck of a lot of trees marked. We shot 4 pretty decent buck right around the two gated roads. 3 between the gates and one on the bottom side of the far road closet to your camp if Im thinking correctly. Of all the years we hunted there we hardly ever saw doe. Odds of seeing a deer was low but high chance of it being a buck.

I am pretty sure I know your camp and would love to be part of a camp just like that!
