On Thursday, November 19, the Pennsylvania House Judiciary Committee will consider House Bill 40.

http://www.nraila.org/Legislation/Read.aspx?ID=5205

HB40, sponsored by State Representative Scott Perry (R-92), would permit law-abiding citizens to use force, including deadly force, against an attacker in their homes and any places outside of their home where they have a legal right to be. It is clearly stated that there would be no “duty to retreat” from an attacker, allowing law-abiding citizens to stand their ground to protect themselves and their family. HB40 would also protect individuals from civil lawsuits by the attacker or the attacker’s family when force is used.

If you would like to testify, please contact the House Judiciary Committee at (717) 787-3525.

Please contact the members of the House Judiciary Committee TODAY and respectfully urge them to support HB40. Contact information can be found below.

I am definately for this bill and can say that Rep. Scott Perry is an awesome representative. My wife works for him here in Iraq, as he is also a Battalion Commander in the National Guard, and he has to be one of the greatest leaders that I have ever met. He is one of those leaders that you would follow anywhere after just meeting him for a few minutes. He is very to the point and doesn't hide what he thinks is going on. If he is putting his name to this bill you can bet that it is a good one. I personally think that is a great bill and will give citizens the right that they deserve in being able to protect themselves and their families. Bravo to Rep. Scott Perry for getting this on the docket. Thanks for posting this John S.

Just a reminder that it's not too late to contact those members of the House Judiciary Comm. and your Reps, to urge support for this bill.

This legislation is long overdue. Glad to see it's being considered again...although I won't hold my breath on it being passed.

It was a House Judiciary Committee hearing on the bill. No vote was taken that I'm aware of, just testimony for and against the bill.
