Thursday i set 6 canine sets in a field i caught a red in last year...thursday.i had a big male red...friday a female...also friday i had a 2nd red near the sets..thought it was caught...i was pretty surprised when it ran off lol...wasnt in a trap....

Today nothing....

Wondering what y'all would do...i am at bear camp...i have to get up an extra hour early to check em..worth it if i keep catching...but if i am not, i rather pull em and try the area again.in a couple weeks when i am back...

Just wondering what you more experienced guys think....

I have 2 different sets that made catches which usually draws more attention in from what i read...

My thoughts is leave em set..check em tomorrow and if no catches pull em...but i am here till Wednesday...

Thats very true!! I have no idea how many may be there...i dont wanna wipe out a producing spot...id assume like most anything else, they are there for the food.and cover and more will move in..but dont know for sure..

Id sure love atleast a couple more though...we dont have hardly any fox at home anymore...havent caught one in 3 years trapping..just yotes...fox are easier to catch IMO..easier to skin..and worth 2-3+ times what yotes are lol...i love catchin fox!

Predators are always on the move. If you trap it heavy and catch a bunch, more predators will move right in if the food is there. You can over-harvest beaver and muskrat but fox and coyote you can't in my opinion. As far as fox, both red and grey are getting tough to find here as well. The coyotes eliminate any compition they may have.

i say since your already there keep them in
like rick said K9s are always on the move and you cant over harvest them
If the spot was good Before it will be good again
Fox/coyotes will move into a good area

Thanx guys! One thing i dont know much on is canine biology....

Funny there are reds here....ive never seen a rabbit in my life up here..grouse are abundant..rodents as well as i reckon...i am setting a crop field edge...there is a brushy power line that crosses the field there and a brushy weed buffer between the woods and field...the rest of the field doesnt have that buffer...i only set it the first time due to yote sign....we saw a red years ago small game hunting on the powerline..

We'll see what tomorrow brings!! Hoping for a bunch of eyes.in my.light.in the.morning!!
