The Rant:
Nobody asked me, but…
1) I’m tired of my government telling me how I can or can’t defend myself, my family, my friends and my neighbors.
a. When the government is prepared to put an armed guard at my house, 24/7, I’ll reconsider - maybe. Until then, leave me be, I got this.
2) I’m tired of the media calling a .223 a “high-powered” rifle.
a. A 30-06 is high-powered, a .22 rimfire is low-powered. Dear media, stop using inflammatory language to sell your business and forward your kumbaya, socialist agenda.
3) I’m tired of the argument that the private citizen shouldn’t own “military grade” weapons.
a. When the 2nd amendment was written, the same muskets used by the govt and militia were the same ones hung over the fireplace mantles in homes.
4) I don’t like the fact the people think it is “OK” to quit looking for work and the unemployment rate goes “down” as a result.
a. You’re unemployed, most applications are filed online anyhow, keep looking.
5) I don’t like being in a supermarket and seeing an unmarried couple, with a child, (all of which I’m pretty much okay with – that’s the way it is these days) filling their cart exclusively with one-dish, microwavable, prepared meals out of a disposable container with an “access” card instead of buying a bag of potatoes, fresh meats and vegetables.
a. If you need the access card that’s fine, but you obviously have the time to feed your family healthier, more affordable meals than this.
6) I don’t like the fact that the unemployment rate for government workers is less than the private sector unemployment.
7) I don’t like the fact the government, who already has bought the “senior” vote (via Medicare) has now bought the “junior” vote by extending health care for those under 27 and by providing “free money” for college.
a. There is no “free money”. Please stop buying your votes with our money.
8) I don’t like that too many people want to look to government to pay them, protect them and feed them.
a. Government isn’t the solution, it’s the problem.
9) I don’t like that our children our taught in schools primarily funded by the government.
a. Too many parents consider walking their kids to and from the bus stop as their role in the education process.
10) Too many Americans are looking for a hand-out, rather than a hand-up.
a. I would help you more, if I could, but the federal, state and local governments are taking more than 40% of my income.
11) I don’t like that I have to balance my budget, pay my bills on time and plan ahead but the government doesn’t.
12) I don’t like that we take God out of our schools, but when a tragedy occurs, we invoke His name.
a. We could all use a lot more God and lot less government in our lives.
I write all of this as a proud husband, father, and God-fearing American.
Feel free to add.
