Ok guys, ..... aside from a few guys around here who were blessed enough to go to Kansas & Maine to kill some ducks, most of us here in PA have had a pretty slow season so far.

So, in order to keep things rolling around here I thought it might be interesting for everyone to list one or more things of DON'T DO while duck hunting.

I think this list might prove to be worth while to the new guys getting into waterfowl hunting and maybe even bring a chuckle to those old timers that should've known better.

So, here goes TWO for you .......

DON'T fart in your Waders.

DON'T jump over the side of the boat, even when close to the shore, ..... unless you really know where the bottom is.

OK, who's next?

DONT waste your time hunting, if there are no birds on the lake you plan on hunting.

DONT over think where to set up

DONT shoot buffleheads, mergs, or coots unless you plan on eating them

DONT setup to shoot divers if there are mainly puddle ducks where you want to hunt, learned this the hard way a few years ago. Set up on a point hoping to shoot some divers knowing there were far more puddlers around... watched dozens of mallards blacks exct, dump into the bay around the corner from the point I was on all morning

don't post a status or message someone with your smart phone telling them you are duck hunting unless you are 100% sure that's what it says. I have seen auto correct make that statement look pretty bad

Don't put coffee in the thermos marked tea.....

wait....

you're not supposed to fart in your waders ?!?!?
Farting in your waders is a good way to identify your pair in the morning darkness.

Don't shoot at large flocks of birds unless its the last day of the season

Dont jump in the creek in flood conditions to get a duck when you dont know how deep the water is in said flood conditions and go neck deep in the water and swamp your gun and waders. im just lucky it wasnt cold out when i did it!

If you hunt a area that is influenced by tides, consult the tide charts before you hunt or you may be in for a long wait getting you boat out.

If any of you hunting buddies weights more than 300lb, don't let them break ice or set decoys or you may spend the best part of the morning digging them out.

Dont get caught with no shells in any guns, two minutes after LST begins, by a mixed flock of blacks and Green heads in the decoys...It results in extreme frustration and mental A** kicking for the rest of the day!

The tide comment could be the most important thing mentioned so far. Not a big problem in PA, but a lot of us hunt DE, MD, and NJ.

Case in point...Broke off a piece of floating dock foam from a storm trash pile to scutter around on the mud and retrieve $500 worth of decoys.
