Yup I admit it. I screwed yup.
Missed him high. Took a little hair off but no blood on arrow.
Best part, he's back. 150 yds from where I shot at him. He just might end up on the wall yet. He's the only buck I'm getting pics of since end august. When his antlers hardened up. Ran the other and bigger bucks off. He's a bully buck.
I'm happy he's ok, and back. Now to check cams and see if he changes routes. Should be fun and frustrating the next few weeks.

Went out to the same stand. I'm about 38 ft up a tree. It's a pinch point. Works well. 3rd buck from this spot in 5 yrs. The woods was logged about 20 yrs ago. It's very overgrown with green briar and small trees. It not easy for archery. Plus these deer live and pattern us. All the neighbors hunt also. I try not to apply to much pressure the first 2 weeks. I'm only 50 yds in the woods from a horse pasture and 170 yds from my house. Today I saw the first deer at 6:20 pm. A doe at the 30 Yd trail. Then a spike, 6 minutes later. Then another spike, 8 minutes later. All on same trail.
Well now I'm really paying attention. At 6:55 a buck appears 20 yds heading right to me. From nowhere, under the brush. He's the nice 6 pt I got on cam. I passed him. It was really hard to pass, cause he was heading to my walk in path. He crossed and kept going.
Man was I relieved. 8 minutes later I heard a foot steps. I'm searching, head on a swivel. Bang there he is. 20 yds from under the same small trees. 8 pt with a wound on his back. Heading right at me, same track the 6 pt traveled. I baaa at him. He Didn't stop. I went with him, with scope and punched the trigger. He was 18 ft from the bottom of my tree.
No tracking at all.
Died at the bottom of my tree.
Bolt hit the spine, back of the lungs and liver.
Beautiful 8 pt.
I'm so happy I got the buck I missed the first day.
Icing on the cake. There was a 3rd buck. My 8 pt was on the ground below me. I looked and it was the huge 8 pt. Didn't bother me at all, he walked. Maybe next year for him, he is huge.
Pics coming.

Could just be the angle of the pictures or the fact that the post kill pictures are up close and personal, but if you showed me all the pictures and no back story i wouldnt believe those are the same deer. Either way congrats! Nice buck, only problem now is youve got alot of time on your hands now

Im so happy to tag this deer.
Between all the archery hunters around me. The 2 neighbors that still have bait out. They make me sick.
I apologize, but this buck makes me so proud. I watch, evaluate and sit and wait. No matter how long. I make adjustments as needed. I run cams 24 7 365. Do all the trim work in spring. It's all paid off.
The tresspassers and biters are pathetic.
Sorry got off track.

Shot this buck using a excal matrix 380. Factory bolt shafts.
Tipped with rage 2 blade xbow heads with purple retainers.

5 bucks and 2 doe with this combo.
These things just plain work.
No complaints what so ever.
They have done it all for me.

My personal disclaimer.
If they don't work for you,
Learn to shoot better.
They work. Period.
