Went out to the same stand. I'm about 38 ft up a tree. It's a pinch point. Works well. 3rd buck from this spot in 5 yrs. The woods was logged about 20 yrs ago. It's very overgrown with green briar and small trees. It not easy for archery. Plus these deer live and pattern us. All the neighbors hunt also. I try not to apply to much pressure the first 2 weeks. I'm only 50 yds in the woods from a horse pasture and 170 yds from my house. Today I saw the first deer at 6:20 pm. A doe at the 30 Yd trail. Then a spike, 6 minutes later. Then another spike, 8 minutes later. All on same trail.
Well now I'm really paying attention. At 6:55 a buck appears 20 yds heading right to me. From nowhere, under the brush. He's the nice 6 pt I got on cam. I passed him. It was really hard to pass, cause he was heading to my walk in path. He crossed and kept going.
Man was I relieved. 8 minutes later I heard a foot steps. I'm searching, head on a swivel. Bang there he is. 20 yds from under the same small trees. 8 pt with a wound on his back. Heading right at me, same track the 6 pt traveled. I baaa at him. He Didn't stop. I went with him, with scope and punched the trigger. He was 18 ft from the bottom of my tree.
No tracking at all.
Died at the bottom of my tree.
Bolt hit the spine, back of the lungs and liver.
Beautiful 8 pt.
I'm so happy I got the buck I missed the first day.
Icing on the cake. There was a 3rd buck. My 8 pt was on the ground below me. I looked and it was the huge 8 pt. Didn't bother me at all, he walked. Maybe next year for him, he is huge.
Pics coming.
