Yesterday was the first time in 2 +/- years I got to do any hiking at my favorite route: the fire tower at Port Clinton over to Hawk Mountain and environs. Somehow I have managed to damage some nerves in my right foot and now that this is on the mend I can do some hiking. Anyhow, and in typical fashion, I bit off a bit too much and on the return trip was footsore. Lungs and legs were fine - but my feet were shredded. I bumped into a couple of state foresters and we chatted for a bit before I headed off to the worst part of the whole hike because from that point to my car it was mostly uphill. Anyhow, I had gone about 100 yards when one of the foresters drove up in his truck and said he was headed my way and would be glad to give me a lift. I was one happy hiker and accepted the offer. If it had not been for that chap offering a ride I can only guess what my feet would fell like today. So thanks to whoever that guy is!!
