Here's a question for y'all, when you folks are out Hunting what things do you carry? Say in your pockets, fanny pack or backpack if you carry one. Myself guess you'd say I'm a little overkill on this, I probably carry more then I should but I live by the old saying, It's better to have and not need it then to need it and not have it. I carry 3 knives, paper towels, toilet paper, wet wipes, rubber gloves, drag rope, flashlight with extra batteries, wallet, 2 cans of snuff, water, thrown together first aid kit, 2 lighters, fire steel, ammo when it's not archery, gloves, knit hat, hard candy and I'm sure I might be missing a few things. I'm starting to think maybe it might be just a little bit to much, oh and about 20-25feet of MilSpec paranoid.

I wear camo cargo pants and a pull over with a pouch and everything has to fit in those pockets. License, range finder, cell phone, rope to hoist up to the stand, gloves, knife, strap to tie me to the tree, and a can of either buck or doe pee. I squirt a tiny bit when I'm up in the tree for a cover scent. Of course I'm carrying my tree stand on my back as well. That's for archery season. I carry less for rifle season.

I carry a pack with a headlamp, extra batteries for GPS and headlamp, GPS, compass, small survival/first aid kit, drag rope, knife, wet wipes, extra gloves and hat, food, water bottle, life straw water filter for any big woods adventures I might find myself in, some extra rope.

Entering into the "probably not necessary but you never know" category, I carry some quick clot and heavy duty bandage. I figure if there's ever a time I might encounter a gun shot wound, during hunting season would be it.

My backpack has a frame that turns into a seat. Main reason I take and like it. Carry a camera w/small collapsible tripod, thermos, lunch, cpl bottles of water, hand warmers, plastic bags for liver/heart, and extra paper towels. If it's really cold, I may throw in another sweat shirt. Also may throw rain gear in the pack if I think I may need it that day. Everything else I need fits into my possbles bag (I only hunt with flintlocks so have the bag with me all the time). It has a couple pockets in which I carry a knife, drag strap, little flashlight, small fire starting kit (strike anywhere matches, bic lighter, and cotton balls soaked in Vaseline in a tin), some orange survey tape (in case I need to do a tough tracking job or emergency marking), and about 20 ft of para cord. Along with what I need for my flintlock. Possibles bag carries what I need to hunt with, pack has my comfort items. Pockets have snuff, cpl protein bars, cell phone, cpl hand warmers and paper towels. Sounds like a lot, but not really. All small items. But heck, with possibles bag and what I have in my pockets, I could build a shelter and fire and spend the night if needed haha

I carry a lot of gear, mostly food, water and clothes because I am usually in my stand all day and I plan on not being cold, wet or hungry for close to twelve hours. I carry a backpack and a fanny. Way to many items to mention, but it's a lot of weight when using my climber and having my pack strapped to it and it seems to get heavier every year. I figure eventually I won't be able to pick it up and get it on my back anymore and will probably have to buy an ATV and drive it right to my stand like most of my buddies do.

I like to travel light....extra clip, 9 shells, 2 Zippo lightersw, chunk of homemade beeswax/ sawdust,( fire starter), compass, some paper towels, zip lock bag with license, pistol permit ( my ID ), havalon knife and spare blades, zip ties, two small LED flashlights, some hand warmers, 10 ft of rope. And one bottle of water. It all goes in my coat.

The fire starting stuff is important, especially if you're in the big woods
