Any ranges that go out to 1000yds? My friend said he heard about one near Chicory mountain but we can't find any info. I am from Greensburg and we have a 500yd range but would like to shoot farther every now and then.

There are no 1000 yard ranges that I know of at any club in your area, many use old strip cuts to shoot at rocks but no formal range. Closest would be one in Ohio near Cambridge... Jackson Twp sportsmen, Chickoree Mt..is only 500 yards but is extremely nice with great benches, meetings 1st & 3rd Mondays around 7 o'clock.

What do you need to know drift ? Anyone can join, all you got to do is go to a meeting and pay your $20-25 bucks and the combination to the loc is on your card..meetings 1 & 3 Mondays at 7:00.... But it's only to 500... Ridgeway has a much bigger range, past 1000...they also have all types of shooting matches...more expensive and must be an NRA member..not sure about meeting, but they have a major website with about everything needed on it...alright tokeep jerbo happy, 40 minute not about an hour, nosightseeing now or first time on the road slow driving...north of Dubois ...

It doesn't take an hour to drive from Dubois to Ridgeway - Binghamton Road.
10 minutes from the interstate to Brockway, another 20 minutes puts you in Ridgeway, another 10 minutes and you can be at the shooting range if you know the shortcuts.

Thunder Valley looks nice, about the same time to Ridgway. Harry Jones is closer, let me know if you think of the one close to the line.

I belong to a 500yd range 2 miles from my house, just looking for farther. My buddy has a camp in Benezette so we can stay at camp after shooting.

You will not find a better time anywhere than Ridgway, you can shoot the long range silhouette matches without being a member. Reactive targets at 850, 900, 950 and a 1000 yards, you just can't beat it. I've shot a few disciplines and there just isn't anything more fun than the long range varmint format in Ridgway. Nothing comes close to long range hunting like this match. Great people that are willing to share knowledge equipment and experiences. Each match draws more than 150 shooter's from as far away as Delaware to Canada. What a great way to spend a day shooting

If you're comfortable shooting 500 and doing well just extend those techniques to longer distances. Pay attention to detail big time, I truly believe once you spend the time on load development the majority of the time spent for accuracy is in the reloading room.

Of course you need to have decent equipment and top of the line components, I cannot stress enough the importance of good bullets, the variance from lot to lot is enough to make you want to jump off a bridge, thankfully the highest bridge close to me is only about 4' . Understanding when you have a good lot and a bad lot will save tons of time and money.

Holy heck I absolutely forgot about the Reade Range, best part I live less than 10 miles from it, god this getting old thing is starting to worry me ! It' located a few miles northeast of Glendale Lake, Prince Galitzen State park.. The range is private and the have all types of matches there just about every weekend something's going on, I think the club's leader is from the Greensburg area also..website is listed under, western PA 30 cal league. ....how could I have forgotten this is beyond me !!
