I am interested in planting an early season food plot in Maryland - when researching all of the "commercial" blends it seems they all have either annual rye grass, turnips(brassica) or beans of some sort. I am thinking of just making my own with beans, turnips and rye grass seeds. It would be many times cheaper. I know the deer murder my grassm beans and turnips all fall - what do you think?

I go to my local feed mill and get seed, I don't buy the mixed stuff.

In fact, I have 100lbs of winter peas and triticale mix in my truck bed right now that I'm off to plant in a few min. Both are supposed to be great attractants and good quality winter forage. Bought it at the mill.....$52 with tax. Cabela's sells the same thing from Evolved Harvest for $20 for 10 lbs.
