would a little super glue to stop serving from light fraying hurt? or would it cause it to become too brittle and possibly a catastrophic break...

No super glue. The super glues make the string very brittle. There is a special 2 part epoxy glue for servings. It's made by Brownell & Co. and it's called Liquid Lok.
