BEAVER COUNTY, Pa. —
Signs that were posted in the wrong area of a Beaver County park had park-goers worried about their safety.
A sign making walkers aware that hunters will be allowed in Old Economy Park for a three-week span starting Wednesday was mistakenly put very close to a play area.
A Beaver County commissioner said the sign was put in the wrong place and the sign has been taken down.
The commissioner said they won't allow hunting on any walking trails, only heavily wooded areas. He said new signs will be put in the correct areas this week, as well as "No Hunting" signs in the park.
Ricky Wagner was one of the walkers who said he was worried about the hunting.
“It’s scary that they would allow guns in the park, so close to the playground and walking trails,” Wagner said.
Wagner said he’s started an online petition to end the hunting law before it begins.
“This just isn’t right. Think of the kids and the adults. There are plenty of places to hunt, you don’t have to do it in a county park,” Wagner said.
Other walkers in the park told Channel 11’s Amy Marcinkiewicz that they’re not worried about hunters.
“I’m not worried at all because hunters know their boundaries. This is a big area and they’ll be far away from me,” one walker said.
Marcinkiewicz reported that to hunt in the park hunters must sign in and pay, so it brings in money to Beaver County. Officials said about 80 hunters have signed up so far.

Actually did you take a second to read that sign and look at how its positioned? Does the sign need to say "with guns" or could they have left it at "hunters will be in the park, enter at your own risk"...the statement "with guns" in light of how society is now, is poor planning and something that should have been addressed prior to placing the signs. Second look where the sign was placed, what IDIOT puts a sign like that in front of a playground, again in today's society whether you agree with how things are or not you need to have a brain and know that sign is gonna cause a stir. Add with this a very urbanized area full of undereducated individuals, in terms of hunting and the tools hunters use for given seasons. A local "park" i love to hunt had a similar issue to this a couple years ago when they put up signs notifying locals that hunting would be allowed, but after a simple open house education session for any locals who wished to voice their concerns or ask the park officials questions, people really came around.....first week people would turn when they saw you coming or completely avoid parts of the park, I now have little old ladies tell me what trails they will be walking and where the deer normaly are/go when they are walking....essentially I got a couple local grandma's doing deer drives for me lol Thats all it takes some time, a little education of the locals can go a long way and may just completely change perception; but most of you have already judged this guy based solely on his bells and jacket, sure not my flavor but neither is some of the stuff I have seen some of you post in trophy pics......I dont think any less of any of you based on those trophy pics tho!

I will specifically mention the California Senator, if you did not see her speech in response to the NRA, i urge you to look it up. This woman is miseducated and has the liberal fairy mindset. These people are socialist, and communist and feel as if we will have a perfect country with more programs, regulations, laws, spending, etc. Essentially they want us to all be little sheep and follow them. I for one am not a follower and I know you are not either. I will always protect my family against any evil by any and all means necessary.

I too am very concerned. I have no need for a AR type rifle, but I do have semi automatic shotguns and semi automatic rifles , do I know where it stops? NO! I also drew a lottery ticket to hunt a park close to my home in January, can't wait to see how that works out with the protesters.
