Still some pheasants out there

I hunted SGL # 44 for about two and half hours today and had three pheasants up. The first one flushed out of range, the second one flew straight into the Sun and I couldn’t even see it until it was out of range. The third one wasn’t so lucky or skilled at escape though.

I’ll try a different area of the same game lands tomorrow and see what I can find there.

sounds like a good hunt, congrats
I think your dog has a hard on for hunting pheasants
Sounds like a very nice day. Keep up the good work!
RSB,
Great stuff, real nice hunt. You might want to keep the exact SGL number to your self, unless you are trying to draw people to that particular location.

Yep, might be a crowd there Saturday...
That's a well earned bird.

It is a big game lands with people hunting pheasants on it every day. I don’t have any issues about sharing information about good hunting locations.

The birds that are left there now are definitely survivors though. We had two points in three hours of hunting today and both are still there. They were both runners, the first one ran over a hundred yards before it was pretty much out of range when it flushed over the edge of the hill. The other one ran a circle bigger than most rabbits through the thickest brush a person could find or imagine. When it did finally hold for the point it was so thick where it flushed I pulled up but couldn’t get the gun to swing to the hard left angle the bird flew. As I tried to swing the gun to catch up to the bird the brush was thick I couldn’t swing through it and I never got a shot.
