Start me out from the beginning

If you want a plot for this year, I would suggest spray now and put down a healthy dose of pellet lime. Wait a few days to a week and throw down some oats and clover to get things started with some fert. Oats will grow fast. Clover not so much but should be there for spring green up. Do your soil tests to see where you are and get it all adjusted in the spring. You might have a weed problem in the spring but spraying/mowing, and choking them out with oats should keep em on the low down. Just my suggestion but i am no expert. You can also try a brassica/turnip blend for the first planting. Just avoid the ones with rye. The turnips are good for your soil. Just kill the last survivors in the spring.
