I'm doing a "experiment" with my Win. 1300 20ga. I'm going to try and shoot some slugs through it.I will be setting some Williams slugger sights on it to see if I can get any accuracy with slugs. Will be using a I/C choke.I will be trying the Federal Truball slugs they say they get 75% more accuracy. Will also test some others.Just wanted to know if anyone else has "experimented" with slugs through there smooth bore shotgun??? I will be using Foster style slugs only and no rifled chokes.

Good luck

Shot smoothbore slugs for 10 or 12 years. Expect good groups at 50 yds, ok at 75 and about 8" low at 100yds.
The better shooters in the day were brenneke and active. Remington slugger and winchester were close, but flattened out real nice when they hit a deer.

With my Mossberg 500 20ga. smoothbore, I/C choke, bead sight with cheap old Remington Sluggers I'm consistent on a pie plate to around 35 yds. even touch holes maybe 1 in 5 shots. Ok for what we'd call a brush gun. Devastating on deer at those close ranges.

Used smooth bore open choke 12 ga. Ithaca for many years and harvested many deer. Accuracy 50-65 yards (3" +-)...8-10" low at 100 yards 7-10"+-.

I used Remington Sluggers and Winchester because they flattened out. I didn't used Brenneke....They were hard and did not expand, but I did not test them, but saw deer shot with them and the slug didn't have a dent in it....

Have fun testing and I sincerely hope your gun does not kick as much as my light weigh single shot does.
