got some more maple and alittle bit of oak cut and split this morning. i still got a huge maple that fell during those heavy windy days but its pretty far back and its to muddy to go back there right now.


heres the maple i just did this morning on the left. i did the stuff on the right a few weekends ago. i got lots of cherry too




of coarse my assistant was alot of help, he was stealing wood faster than i could stack it






all split with otis(as seen in the movie frailty)

its a little windy but it always is here. not bad temp wise i was just wearing a sweatshirt

the maple is stricktly for smokeing. the cherry is my main firewood for the house but its excellent to smoke with too. i did alittle clearing this year and most of this wood is from that.

Have you ever used sassafras? Supposed to be good for smoking ham from what I hear. I've cooked over a fire made from sassafras and it definitely adds a distinct flavor to the meat.

They say its good, I have some drying as we speak. I got a lot of it on our property. I'll try it this summer
