I just bought one to make it easier to climb into my tree stand. I don't want to haul it up with a rope. I pull up my back pack and chair but I sling my rifle to climb the ladder. I don't know how much I will like it but it will be better than climbing one handed.
To me crossbows are awkward to carry and I would think a sling would be a plus. I would think a sling could also be an asset if in an event one had to hold the crossbow in place for a period of time waiting for a good shot.
I do a considerable amount of hunting via a 4 wheeler therefore, when I do use a crossbow my walks are 200yards more or less and I am carrying a back pack, a tree stand and a bow.
I'm buying a Crossbow soon so I was wondering about a sling and found they make them for the CB.
Thought it would be easier with the CB slung over my back or shoulder to and from stand.
I like being hands free navigating in the dark.
I do but I read something interesting about it and thought I would share. Might have even read it on here. Somebody mentioned that if you cock your crossbow before walking to your stand it might not be a great idea. If the string or a limb would fail that it could be a dangerous situation with the limbs being right by your head. Never gave it a thought before reading that.
I would not even consider cocking my crossbow before getting to my stand in the dark. I might if I was going in to sill hunt after daylight while carrying the crossbow but never while it was on a sling or in my holders on my atv. There was a certain member f the house of representatives who was too puny o cock his crossbow so he had his son cock it before he left in his truck and then he drove to his hunting spot with a cocked crossbow inside his truck.
I put a sling on mine, and after using it I decided it wasn't for me. I use a Summit Viper climbing stand that I pack in and out each hunt and trying to sling the Xbow along with the stand didn't work that well for me. I'll sell you my sling if you want one. Shoot me a PM.
