I plan to take my grandson on a mentored youth squirrel hunt this season. The rules mention the mentored youth must be stationary before being allowed to hold a legal hunting device. Now, say our method of hunting squirrels is by walking the woods until we come across one, we stop, thereby rendering ourselves stationary. I then hand him the gun to take the shot. Would this be legal under the mentored youth rules, or do we need to take a stand and not move from that location before being legal?

The way I understand it you'd be fine. You have to carry it....then give it to MY when stationary. Doesn't say you have to be stationary for any amount of time....be that 1 second or 1 hour.
