I keep mine as tight to the riser during transport. Once in stand I extend it out 8" and never have a problem with anything hanging up on my sight. Most sight bars have dimples in the dove tail bar to locate the adjustment screw to your favored position.

Just wondering how you guys set your sights up, up close or further out? I read an article that said further out is more for precision shots but your shots will be off w any kind of inconsistency or small movement. What are your opinions?
