If they do a hair test theres no way they can fool that test, heck they can even narrow it down to when then did it.

Heres a idea to consider..... Why not have any who collects welfare be fingerprinted?
I am not going to debate who deserves welfare,,, but there are people out there that have numerous Id's,.. and there is no check or balances on discovering them.
They just go from one welfare office to the next.
We have in place a national fingerprinting system that would compare any two or more of the same person. Or would that be violating thier rights?

I once arrested a MD resident hunting on a resident hunting license. He had a PA welfare card. My investigation revealed he owned a towing business in MD and owned a home in MD and lived in MD and had a girlfriend in Lancaster and was using her address to collect welfare from PA. I turned the information over to the welfare department and they acted like I was doing something wrong and questioned how I knew he lived in MD. Nothing was done to him. I seized his welfare card and gave it to the welfare dept, I am guessing they gave it back to him. There are a whole lot more checks needed on these parasites.

I don't know if it's the same in PA, but in NY, if you're hooked on drugs or alcohol, you can't get a job so they give you section 8 housing, disability payments, food stamps and medical bennies. I know down the street from me, the dopers just moved out and more are moving in.

Absolutely, here is a question. Why are the vast majority of govt housing projects **** holes? The people don't care it isn't really theirs. If you want state monetary or fed govt assistance you should have to work for it. Clean up your neighborhood from garbage or work at a local govt office as an intern.
It sickens me to see the welfare dept have commercials on tv informing people they may be eligible for benefits.

My thoughts are these yes they should be tested and the test cost should be deducted from their "compensation". Also for those that dont want to work.. the govt should build huge hamster-wheels that somehow can generate electricity by turning. Kind of like a wind mill but these wheels are powered by welfare recips walking in the wheel. The more they walk the more electric is generated...everyone can walk cant they??

Then at least society can get some benefit to paying for these "citizens".

I don't think drug tests should be required for welfare. I'm totally against entitlement programs but the idea of a test would only make sense if it included nicotine, caffeine and alcohol.

If the argument is that we shouldn't have tax $$$, via welfare payments, going to frivolous items, then mind altering drugs fall into that category as well as any chemicals that are completely unnecessary for day to day life but are available and habit forming- caffeine and nicotine. If my tax $$$ shouldn't fund a welfare-case's drug habit, it shouldn't fund their Starbucks or Marlboro habit either.

If the idea is that drug use is harmful for society, and tax $$$ should not pay, via welfare, for substances that may cause problems, then it makes no sense to not include alcohol. I used to watch folks in section-8 apartments all day long walking back & forth to the bars past the gas station I worked at, buying 40's and 6-packs. What ticked me off to no end was there was a beer distributor 3 blocks away they could have bought in bulk for far less. And according to my friends in LE, they've never been to a domestic violence call where everyone involved was just smoking pot. But when alcohol is involved, that's when people start getting stabbed/shot/beaten to a pulp/killed.
