cantilever is always better. it mounts the scope with the barrel so they dont move from one another. i change my barrels all the time on my slug guns, and have NEVER had to shoot a shell through to make sure it was still on. unless you drop, or bump it, the scope will still be in the exact same spot on the barrel.
