I recently picked up some winchester super x 12ga #6 2 3/4 in and when I got home I realized it was steel shot. Ive never shot steel shot before iust wondering if its ok to shoot in my older 70's remington 1100. What are the ballistics compared to lead? Thanks for any info. I know waterfowl guys shoot it just don't want to mess anything up not knowing

If your barrel is choked IC or modified you will not have a problem and the steel will work fine for small game.

It is not recommended that you use steel shot in a full choke barrel.

Been using an 1100 with steel for many years. Shot it since it's been required and there is no damage to the gun. Since they are #6's wouldn't worry. As for me if it was a full choke and being that's it's 6's I would shoot it any way and be on my merry way.

Ok. I should have clarified, my remington 1100 has a fixed full choke. I bought them mainly to use hunting crows.
