Opening day of trout season usually marks the coldest I've been throughout an entire calendar year. Snowmobile suit is usually the best attire.

There were musky in Perkiomen Creek but I have not fished it in years

Caught my one and only Muskie in the Perkiomen below the dam at the ski slope,
three years ago. April 1st 2020.

You don't have to come down too far off the mountain for good trout fishing. Fishing Creek in Benton and Pine Creek in Shickshinny are awesome spots if you're in the area!

When I came down from camp Monday, there was a guy fishing right below the dam across 487 from Mill Race Golf Course.

I'm going to wait until a few days before and decide for the same reason. Although if the weather is miserable there won't be too many guys fishing.

Ya never know 2 years ago I think it was 65 and sunny at camp the Saturday before. Friday night before the opener we got 6 inches of snow. That’s the day my oldest said “you can have this” and now fishes at home for the opener.

For years, I didn't fish the opener at all. Either fished for stripers or crappies. Stocked trout don't excite me that much. Can be fun when the crowds are gone, but so are crappies and striped bass.

Many years ago we fished Tobyhanna Lake on opening day. I watched the weather and knew snow was expected for this opener.

There were 6 of us in 2 boats. It started to snow and the wind kicked up. It got nasty. I was wearing insulated coveralls and a heavy hooded jacket and I was still cold. After a while, my buddy said, "let's go in I'm freezing". It was then I realized how he was dressed. He wearing thin work pants and a light jacket with no hat or hood. I asked him if he saw the weather report. His reply was "it's trout season it's supposed to be nice." We went in.

Dog, I think like your friend. Trout means spring, Easter, and peepers chirping, not 35 and snow.

I’ll fish the Susquehanna for the opener. I’ve caught trout downstream from bowman’s fishing for smallies. They were the trout that got past the muskys

Now that I think of it we won’t be up till the second week of April for my birthday so I’ll miss the opener anyways lol 😂

Well, you should get some action. The "Hoop was stocked yesterday the 13th. They will be in the Susquehanna by Saturday. Bowman's gets stocked next Monday the 20th. Was supposed to be stocked today...those muskies will be getting fat real soon.

JB. Still plenty of snow up top on this side. Green up is budding. Wild garlic about 4/5 inches. Frogs sending signals. Not spring peepers. Just frogs letting us know their winter is over. It was a great winter for the deer. They are everywhere and in very good numbers. A good friend within eyes sight of 57 had 40 in his field a few days ago. Very good numbers on on this side of 57. No bears yet. Stopped in Burke’s Gun Shop today. Really busy and good to see.
