Here is a great opportunity for any one who ever wanted to chop down a tree on State Game Lands!
The Northeast PA Chapter of the Ruffed Grouse Society, in conjunction with the PA Game Commission, will be conducting a habitat improvement project on March 6th from 8am till ?, in an area known locally as the "Rauscher Farm" on SGL 127.
We will be cutting three separate stands of mature aspen to create a younger habitat for grouse and woodcock adjacent to several existing food plots. Bring chainsaws, chaps, hearing protection, gloves, a good pair of boots and your desire to improve the habitat for local wildlife.
The NEPA RGS will provide a hot dog lunch!
Directions are pretty easy: From I-380, get off at the Gouldsboro Exit and turn towards SGL 127 (if you are traveling North on I-380, turn left at the stop sign...from the Southbound lanes, turn right at the stop sign), go approximately 2 miles along the road that borders the Lehigh River and SGL 127. The project is up the logging road on the left immediately after you cross the fourth bridge!
We can also meet at the I-380 Gouldsboro truckstop at 7:30...there is a Burger King there, so you can grab a cup of coffee and an egg sandwich before we get going. I will be leaving the truckstop at 7:45am sharp for those who want to follow me to the project!
Hopefully we see a few new faces, as well as the old ones!
Please let me know if you can attend so that I bring enough food for lunch!
See you there!
Brian
