I'm not surprised. Thank god for the Constitution, and thank god for the NRA.
On again at 8pm tonight. I watched most of it. It was nice to see the pro gun folks present the facts and dispute a lot of this garbage the antis have been saying. The college professor was very good with his info.
Our side presents facts and stats. Their sides presents victims. That's what they always do, weather it's about health care, guns, or any other subject. All they have are victims. If you aren't a victim, they aren't interested. They are just like the lawyer adds you see on TV, where they "fight the powerful", and "fight for the victim". It's the same stuff.

How about fighting for liberty? Fight against Tyranny? Stand up for The Constitution?
When they advocate a ban on the modern firearm and then advocate a ban on large capacity clips. One contradicts the other.

Case in point, Giffords husband stated that a 10 round clip can make all the difference. Yet, he wants the firearm banned.
Did anybody notice how slimy Dick Durbin tried to undercut LaPierre about the second amendment? Trying to spin it to make us look like we are all out to kill police officers, and then police chief Johnson poked his head out of Durbins behind to say it a sick way of thinking. Propaganda even in the hearings. Priceless.

LaPierre was questioned by Durbin and answered with a comment about the 2A and a tyrannical government. Durbin quickly spun that answer to mean the NRA supported fighting law enforcement. Johnson saying that it was sick. It sure was...
Make no mistake, snakes like Durbin will continue to push this narrative. He will try to paint the NRA, 2nd amendment advocates, tea party members, etc, as enemies of the state who are willing to attack LE and the military.

This then, sets the table for the government to "crack down" on anyone that they perceive as a "threat" and plant that seed in the minds of those officers and troops that these people will kill them.

Yes, I did my own quote to the old lady after that question....

"Yes, gun owners are worried about YOU Mr. Senator violating the constitution, trying to disarm them to have your will, after disarmament. It's You, Mr. Senator...." It ranted from there....

But yes, it was a "bait" question....but it's true.

The 2nd was created to prevent a tyrannical gov't, and to make sure citizens have the same armaments as the gov't to prevent it.

Wayne didn't want to come right out and say this, and he said, "citizens are worried about being abandoned by their gov't". He has to tread lightly as to not seem like a anti-gov't kinda guy.

Wayne is doing a good job representing us. I commend him, and I support the NRA totally.

I think, and I might be wrong, if Wayne came right out and called him out on the question as to what gun owners are worried about, and buying up guns and ammo at record pace....It might really be the top story on the news, and for good reason. This isn't about "gun safety measures". It's about the left disarming the public. It's about...........Communism.

Wyomingcounty,
I think it is naive to think the Gov. does not know the real reason for the buy ups and stock piles. I guarantee they have this and forums like it everywhere monitored. IMO

Big brother is watching....like the Great Eye, as in the Lord of the Rings Series. I can't take credit for it, but it's called Mordor on the Potomac.

Facebook and Twitter have paid employees for this very thing for Mordor. I left those a long time ago.
I would like an investigation done on this Baltimore Police Chief James Johnson. He was all to eager to lick the boots of every Democrat that asked him questions, which was just about all of them. If I were a betting man, I'd say he got paid by the dems to be there.

I agree, it was pretty strange to say the least..........either that, or he is just bleeding heart...
You mentioned communism at the end of your post. I was browsing leftest message boards yesterday to get their perspective on the Senate hearing. One person who lived in formally communist Slovakia, said that crime was very low there.

....sure but they have a museum now, dedicated to the crimes of communism.

I would say that I want a "personal defence weapon" not to fight the police, but for the same reason they have them.
Personal Defense Weapon, I like that.
It sounds a lot better than Assault Weapon.

For awhile I did research on "network theory"- in the ecological sciences. The most advanced research on "network theory" is in the social sciences, and the Dept of Homeland Security has a HUGE development effort to apply this body of knowledge towards monitoring of the internet- specifically to identify and track web sites that show domestic anti-guvmn't sentiments.

Given what's said on HPA I would not doubt the Political Forum is somewhere on their list.

They claim they are focused on fighting "terrorism", and to the layperson that conjures images of Osama bin Laden and the likes. In reality their primary focus is domestic. They have public documents (which we've posted links to and commented on HPA) that lump just about anyone who doesn't kiss the guvmn'ts ring in a bin they call "potential terrorists"- this includes anyone who thinks the 2A is an individual right, anyone who questions whether the Constitution gives the guvmn't the authority to do what it does. They specifically listed anyone who has a "don't tread on me" bumper sticker and all Ron Paul supporters. And all returning Afghan/Iraq war veterans.

There's a large research facility at the University of Maryland filled w/military and LE officials dedicated to this very purpose (web trackers), with millions in grant $$$ for professors. There are other such programs/facilities as well. Carnegie Mellon (Pittsburgh) comes to mind.

It's a 2-edged sword- they may have had low crimes, but they also had very high rates of unemployment, drug addiction, alcoholism and malnutrition...

That's what happens when the guvmn't takes over and "provides". You can see that here in the USA in every inner-city ghetto and low-income trailer park. You "provide" housing, food and income, voila! Ever-increasing unemployment, alcohol/drug use and malnutrition.

BTW- I'd be leary of trusting crime stats from communist countries. They may boast of low firearms-related crimes, but they also have a vested interest in not telling the whole truth. In many of those countries there are thriving black markets and lots of beatings, rapes, stabbings, etc. that the police simply ignore or don't report (or are directly involved in). If they showed the true stats it would make it look as if the Communist state weren't "protecting" its citizens. THeir socialized medical systems don't work either- very high infant mortality rates and people dying of ailments a $10 course of antibiotics would cure.

One needs to realize that people like James Johnson and Charles Ramsey do not represent the thinking of rank and file law enforcement.

They represent the political aspirations of police administration types, which they both are.

The next time you see an anti-gun politician making a televised announcement surrounded by uniformed officers, know that they're either there because they've been ordered to appear, or they personally support whatever socialist nonsense the politician is spouting off about on TV.

And it isn't just some police officers that support such politicians. Plenty among us as gunowners and hunters, that support that sort of political philosophy.

And one only needs to look at the Ruby Ridge and Waco assaults to see what lengths the government will go to, to take out "perceived threats" from "perceived domestic terrorists". They wanted to use those two incidents as a show of force to anyone who dares to question the government.

They are watching. They are taking notes. They are massing a list of "enemies of the state". They are waiting for a reason to drop the hammer...
