Scope Choice

1116 Views 6 Replies 7 Participants Last post by  uncle buck
I just bought a Encore Pro Hunter, Stainless Steel, Hardwoods Stock in a 25/06. Question is: What scope would everyone recommend? What would look best Silver or Matte or does someone make a matching Advantage Scope? Lens objective? I want something quality with good light gathering capabilites.

If someone has pictures of their Encore Pro Hunter with same stock and scope mounted, that would be great.

I ordered a Leupold VX-1 2-7x33mm Shotgun/Muzzleloader scope in silver today.

25-06 is a nice flat shooting round. You have a smidge more drop at 350-375 yards with a 85 grain pill than a 22-250 at 60 grains (for a good comparison).

IMO a good 3-9x40 for deer and 4-14x40 if you want to shot deer and hogs. I had a 6-18 (way to much for woods hunting)on mine but moved that to the 22-250. I am looking to put a 4-14x40 or a higher end 3-9x40 on it this fall for hunting season.
I have a 25-06 Encore also, mine has a Zeiss Conquest 4.5-14-44mm on top! Great choice for deer and woodchucks...

I have the same setup as you, with a Nikon 3x9 realtree camo scope, looks great, great caliber, black matt millet rings.
on an SS gun, I like SS rings around a matte scope, think it looks great.

But my Encore is a Hodge Podge.

I use a Leupold 3-9 x 40 in Silver on the rifle barrels. (Quick Disconnect Leupold rings on the scope.)

On the ML barrel, I have an older Bushnell Banner that is gloss.

Just shoot what you got.
It would be your own option..However I just can't see putting black rings and mounts and a scope on a stainless barrel..Thats just me..My staineless barrel all have silver everything...

I like Muller scopes...Check out the 4.5 X 14 40 MM AO Silver for about $104.00. Wow does it shoot well on my 308 Win Prohunter...
