This is the second year with my crossbow and haven't bagged a deer. Last night I was sitting in a blind with windows in front and on my left an right. I keep the back door zipper down just an inch so I can get a look behind me. I peered through the crack and there was a nice big doe, which I do plan to shoot because I love the meat. The deer had 3 sides to choose and it chose the side with no window. Never seems to fail, but it was neat watching for several minutes. Not a great story, but it is a story, ha.

Always seems to happen when you are hunting them whereas, when one is hunting spring gobblers the deer always walk right in front of the hunter. Last Spring Gobbler Season I had about 15 turkeys coming to my calls from across an open field with 4 big gobblers in the group only to have three deer walk out from the woods behind he toward the the approaching turkey and revert the turkeys just out of my range.

Keep trying one day things will go your way.

I was out hunting yesterday morning. My plan was to try to get a doe. Saw some bucks. At 8, I stood up to pee and there were 2 does right behind me at 20 yards. Needless to say they didn't like it when I tried to spin around, grab my bow, and try to shoot. If I didn't stand up, there were most likely going to continue on past my stand.

It must be one of those Murphy's Laws.

Yesterday, I was out in the afternoon, and was rained on, hailed on, and just about blown out of my tree. So, I checked the radar on my weather app on my phone, and wasn't convinced I was in the clear for the rest of the day. So I lowered my crossbow and pack to the ground and shimmied my climber down the tree.

As I'm unhooking my hoist rope from my stand and winding it up around my arm, I look over and there's a small buck watching me. I loaded a bolt back in my crossbow in case a doe or legal buck came close. I crouched behind my climber which I had standing up as I was about to lash the top and bottom together with my alligator strap. The little buck knew something wasn't right and finally trots off, not spooked too badly.

I took a breath and continued packing my stand. As I stand up, deer that were about 40 to 50 yards behind the buck, that I didn't see before, start running everywhere. There were about 8 deer in all. Gaaahhhhh!!!! Deer just make you nuts don't they? So anyways, I feel your pain. You just gotta laugh sometimes.
