My personal pick would be an early Model 19 K-frame for light weight and balance and because it carries well. But it would give up a bit in durability to the 686. Although they are heavy duty, I always thought the N-framed M27's were beautifully made .357's. My buddy has one with a 5" barrel. It seems to balance itself, and the blueing is flawless. I will never sell my 4" M27. It's not my preference for length but it's too sweet a wheelgun.
