Is it mating season for bear? Had 2 around the house today. Didn't see them both at the same time but within an hour of each other. One smaller, less than 200 and the other probably over 300. The other question, The bigger bear had silver tags in both ears, about 1/2 inch wide. I believe that means it is a problem bear and relocated. Once or twice? Would they put it down if they trap it again ?

We get most of our breeding activity in June and July each year.
I' m still seeing last years Cubs with the mothers, but they should be kicking them out soon.
As timber doodle said, ear tags don't necessarily mean problem bears, but could.
Area WCO's normally trap and tag bears to have a comparison of the numbers tagged bears vs. number of tagged bears harvested for population estimates. They normally put two tags on them because they often pull them off.
