What is everyone seeing? I found my first scrapes of the year on Friday, and by Monday had found close to 20.
Thinking back to last year, this amount of scrape activity hadn't occurred until what would be next week. I thought maybe the rut was starting early but then I remembered that the rut came a little late in northern 2E last year.

What are you guys seeing in your areas?

I had seen scrapes a month ago territorial is what I think the rut moon is late and the doe movement is minimal so it will come when it comes.

Little bucks acting like they know what they are doing g like always..scrapes and rubs as per usual..


The season is only so long...hunt when you can and change tactics as the area deer tell you to...when they start seeking and chasing I will start hunting funnels and doe bedding. Till then I'm hunting buck beds and food sources and the places in between.

agree with mauser. That being said saw a nice 10 chasing a doe saturday nite and my nephew shot a 9pt last nite chasing a doe. genetics are good in 2b both bucks could be 2.5 years old. havn t seen my nephews buck yet.

Watched a button chase a fawn all around last night put his nose in her tail when she stopped. Watched a 3 point make a scrape. Watched a nice 8 make a scrape last Monday. Rubs popping up all over.

The rut was late everywhere last year thanks to the late warm weather. Hopefully this year will be on schedule.

The weather has no effect on the rut. It may slow daytime movement down but the majority of the does are still coming into esterous around the same time every year. Yes colder weather helps with deer movement/seeking/chasing during the daytime which is what we see.

Every year its around the 21 of Oct i start to see the buck going into rut,not full rut that won't be until the first or second week of Nov.

Depends on what you call 'Rut' sign.

Scrapes/rubs start as soon as they shed velvet (scrapes can be worked all year long).

Bucks seeking/chasing does (what I think of as rut activity) is a few weeks away. Except for the young bucks, they are like horny teenagers and will start early.

With that said, with the cold snap today I truly expect to see some good action tonight and tomorrow that will make it like a false rut.
