Does anybody have information about the gun range at Russell City? What are the requirements to join?

You can only shoot 100 yards there. Must be a member of the HiLa sportsmen. Used to be able to buy memberships at the store. Not sure if you still can. If I was joining a club in that area (for shooting purposes)it would be Ridgway.

They dont take very good care of the range there are usually no backboards gotta take your own or try to salvage whats there. They do have benches under shelter. Their busiest time is right before rifle season, pretty much any other time you will have the range to yourself

You can and it still costs a whopping $5 to join for the year. It also entitles you to take corn from the corn crib for feeders after hunting season is over. Not the best range but what do you want for $5.00?

I think a nice club house and a steak dinner monthly should not be out of the question for $5.00 a year!!

The place is close to camp. Just was looking for a place to shoot. No handguns though?

I always thought about joining but never did. $5 does sound like a very reasonable price.
Just curious does everyone shooting have to be a member or can a member bring a friend?

I join every year. Best money I spend. 15 dollars on the Sunday before rifle season gets you: all you can eat/drink pork bbq dinner, gun raffle, door prizes and annual membership to the range.

They sell memberships at the Russell City store and you can shoot handguns.

I am not knocking the Russell City range. I've shot there many a time and it serves it's purpose. The ranges at Ridgway are just soooooo much nicer. Several different ranges. I think Ridgway is around $25 a year. What really is $25 anymore? From my camp it's not that much further to Ridgway. Granted $5 at R.C. is very cheap, but go and try to ring up those long range silhouettes at Ridgway a couple times and you'll be hooked.
They have all kinds of competition shoots at Ridgway also. I would highly recommend anyone to go and see one of the black powder shoots. It is fascinating to watch those.
