I have an older Ruger orginial (1969) single six. This is not with the hammer protection that the newer ones offer. Question is would you send it back for the upgrade or keep it original? They say they'll send original parts back for collectors. Haven't shot my toe off yet. Whats your thoughts?

I have a revolver without the hammer safety. At the range I load 6 rounds. If carry in a holster I leave the chamber under the hammer empty. That’s me do what you are comfortable with.

As long as you retain the original parts, having them do the upgrade won't hurt the value of the revolver.
