Elder Berry? These surround the wood line behind my house and get hammered by the deer in Sept/Early Oct when the stems turn purple.

No rain in the first week but temps have been cool. I did water with a sprinkler yesterday for about two hours and gave it a good soak. I was surprised by the germination rate. There are virtually no dead spaces. Ill try to keep the updates coming every week. Any ideas on the berry bush? Whatever it is, the deer love it and it comes back every year after getting hammered to death.

Looks good.What kind of seed?
The berries look like poke berry plants to me. I don't think you can eat them. Elderberries look much different.

Poke berries... Deer love to browse the foliage, bears love the berries and doves and quail love the seeds. The new sprout before they start to turn red can be eaten by humans, much like asparagus. Good looking start! Let's pray for rain... None in the extended forecast til next Saturday...
