anyone hunting/shooting a smooth bore shotgun barrel with a rifled slug choke tube? how well do they work and group? don't want to spend $100+ for a seldom used rifled barrel if a rifled choke tube works. thanks in advance jim

It primarily depends on how far you want to take a shot. I went through this a number of years ago because I also hunt in southern MI which does not allow rifle.

This article is pretty much in agreement with what I found out at the time.

I encourage you to read the article but the bottom line is that a rifled choke tube is an improvement over a smooth bore but not as good as a rifled barrel.

At the end of the day I sucked it up and bought a rifled barrel--which just happened to have a new shotgun attached

sights aren't really the question as I have a set of clamp-on, to the vent rib, open sights and clamp-on scope base and the receiver is drilled for a base. does anyone have a shotgun that the rifled barrel is pinned to the action? I have heard that this improves accuracy, anyone have any first hand info? thanks jim
