What would you guys reccommend fpr a scope to be used for both deer and elk hunting? I was thinking the Leupold vari l or vari ll with the long range reticle. What are you guys using?

Actually any light 3-9 or 4-12 would do.Just sight it in at 150 or 200 yards dead on.
I like the nikon scopes. I have a 3x9x40 prostaff on my 7mm wsm it dont have the bdc retical. I have it sited in at 200yards. Very clear glass and not to hard on the wallet
I have a Leupold VX-III on my .300 Win mag, great glass and it is sighted in 2" high at 100 yards. Will hit them out to 300 yards with no holdover.
I have Zeiss Conquests on all my guns. Have been very happy
Take a look at the new reds...same price as a Nikon prostaff and made right here in good ol USA..Nice clear glass..backed by leuopold...

You can't go wrong with a leupold 3x9. I have one on my .300 and it works well.

+1 The new Redfields are very nice. I bought one-hands down best glass for anything in the 300 price range...only they are half that!

A new Redfield will be my next scope, a 4 x 12 40mm.
I just bought 2 new scopes, a Leupold and a Redfield. Cant tell much difference between to 2 scopes. The only one I could find was about $150.00 in the price. Dont be afraid to buy a Redfield, they are well worth the cheaper price!!
I have quite a few Leupold scopes....but my favorite is a 4-12 VII with a fine duplex.
A good ole' standard Leupold 3 x 9 is all that you'll ever need for big game hunting at reasonable ranges..out to 500 yards....buy one, it'll last a lifetime and is back-upped with quick service if ever needed..I owned at least 10, how many have ever had a problem, zero...good enough for me..
Whatever one you buy, get a 50 mm lens.
The Burris signature select 3x12x44 is a nice scope also..Jeff
