97 Toyota Tercel (haven't bought it yet but will be doing so in the next couple days)....hard to get started on cold or wet mornings. With the occasional backfire thrown in there when trying to get it started. Runs fine after its been warming up for a bit though. I'm thinking new distributor cap, rotor, spark plugs and wires will fix the cars problems. Any thoughts and or insights on this?

Sounds like you need to add a little more coal to the firebox, and maybe some more water to make the steam.

and you thought you would get a serious answer
Ok, serious now. Yes, the OP should change the plugs, wires, cap, and rotor.
That way it'll be driveable so he can get it to the junk yard!
