I had seen this a few years ago and didn't have a camera with me. I was in the area again today and couldn't resist getting a few shots.

i have run across these types of stone structures in my line of work off the beaten path, i was told by old civil engineers that they were bult by WPA WORKERS after the depression of the 30's, many of these workers built structures like this while working on building culverts, roads, trails and the like and they would use these to stay on the work sites for a few days to sometimes weeks.`just what i was told and no reason to doub't it. cool eh!

Stonewall,
Thanks for the cool pictures, I also enjoy things like
that. Where my dad lives there is an old foundation
of a farm house and the well is still active.

I will get to camp and take pics of a small cabin on a hillside you wont believe. Its steep. The old guys at camp told me it was built by a hermit that made birch oil to sell.

Very cool! I'm surprised it survived that close to a raod though, around here kids would have knocked it down just for kicks.
