I have also owned and shot both....many times. The family and I get together and shoot bluerocks on Sundays (We own 52 acres).
I've seen Remington Model 870's come and go. But the lads with the Mossbergs just keep on breaking the rocks.
By the way, I have a Mossberg Model 500 ABR made in 1962. That gun darn near shucks itself and the safety is where it belongs, Right under your thumb.
