Remington 710

I'm not a fan but a friend asked me to sight his 710 in .270 in for him one year. I shot a 1/2" group @100 with factory ammo! That gun did shoot. Then the dope went and sold it to Cabelas after deer season for a whopping $150 . I'd of gave him that and wouldn't have belittled by telling how worthless his gun is in the process.

Actually I just got the new Savage Edge in 22-250 and am rather pleased with it. It will be going to the range tomorrow. I feel the quality is better than the Remington 710/715/770 series.

I will say I bought a 710 as my first rifle. It shot amazing with factory rem. core-lokt ammo! Now, the first deer I shot I hit it but wasnt sure at first so I tried to quicky chamber a 2nd and it jammed but I eventually got it in. I agree...the bolts are very rough, but that gun should shoot! I sold it in favor of a 700. I am going to start hand loading for my 700 and if it doesnt shoot I am going to find me another 710 becuase all you should need is 1 shot right haha

The big issue with the 710 is the bolt stop breaks off in cold weather. You'll be working your bolt trying to get a second shot off and the bolt will come right out of the gun. That and the clip will break so you have to duct tape it in place.

Maybe I'm lucky, I haven't had this happen. I bought mine in 2004, maybe some of the problems had been worked out?
There is a little lever (bolt stop) on the side of the breech, when this is pushed fully down, the bolt shouldn't slide out, think this may be the problem?

I've had good luck with all Remington products, so far.

Please post your results. I'm curious. I read Waynes review in G&A and am curious to hear about your findings.

I tried to shoot the Edge today but they were redoing the shooting range I belong to so it was closed until I don't know when.
