I personally will never own a Barnett cause I have read to many complaints about em over the years. You can get a Wicked Ridge for that much coin. The PSE Fang gets good reviews once you get a better scope and bolts which would still put you under 4 bills.

Wicked Ridge Warrior or PSE Fang. I would opt for the Warrior. Not the fastest budget bow out there but dependable and backed by great customer service from a company that leaves and breathes crossbows.

I just received a killer insticnk ki-350
Found it online for less than $350 delivered.

350 fps, shoots 1 inch at 35 yards with good arrows.
One of the best I ever had.

Good Luck, Stan

Check out Centerpoint Sniper 370, Under $300
I'm gonna try to go next sat and pick one up. If I can find one. A lot of places around here have them backordered idk if it has to do with the cocking rope recall or what. But it'll be my first xbow. So we'll see how it goes.

cant say whats best but I had a parker enforcer and now have a PSE Fang. I can count on 1 hand how many times Ive taken either deer hunting. Yard toys for me.
The fang IMO is better then that parker except for the scope. I had other bolts, and upgraded the scope to a Hawke MAP 3x32. The trigger is better, and its quieter. Also 40 fps faster. I have way under $400 in it even with the Hawke scope.

I bought a Fang as a backup ....It is very quiet, very fast....I put a Hawke scope on it as well...The scope given with the crossbow is junk....My buddy bought a Fang for $299 complete at Dicks last week.....He brought it here to shoot and the scopes adjustments are junk as it took countless turns to get the point-of-impact to move just a little bit, but we finally got it sighted in....It's nowhere near an Excalibur in accuracy but it will do for general deer hunting purposes....I would recommend it for the price.

ok here is my opinion your best bet is to find a used Excalibur,or Parker bow. Both are nearly bullet proof bows and have 100% great CS. Barnett are ok at best that company has terrible quality control. Buy something that is made in North America. (USA or CAN). I said made and not assembled big difference!

If ya go new I would look hard at Parked Enforcer! alot of bang for your buck.

Sportsman's Guide offers their Beowulf model for less than $350.00 and it comes with scope and quiver. Arrow speed is well over 300 fps. Two of my hunting buddies own this crossbow and it's a keeper!

I own a Barnett Raptor FX. It has shot great out of the box, with quality broad heads at time of purchase I had just under $400. It's compact, light weight, fast and hits right where I aim it. I had a Barnett C5 Wildcat that I used for 5 years. Killed 6 deer with it and never had a problem. I had it re-strung and a silencer kit put on it and passed it onto my dad. I am not a sales man for Barnett, maybe I got the only 2 good crossbows they ever made? But, I would buy another one if the features/price was best in class. I have never needed their customer service so I can't speak for it.

I own ten points , Stryker , Parker. And the center point sniper 370 that I picked up from cabelas for 250 assembled can hold it's own .
Just wish the trigger was better it has a trigger like a mossberg but a great bang for your buck .

Re: recommend a budget xbow(update)

Well guys just wanted to say thanks for all the input. I know season is half over but I've had access to a loaner so wasn't in a big hurry at that point. I decided to go with the centerpoint sniper 370. Just orderd it today with 3 day shipping from sportsmans guide for a grand total of $199.97 to my door. And no the sub $200 price is not a misprint so I believe I got a really good deal on a well reviewed crossbow so thanks again for the info and just wanted to let everyone else know about the good deal over at The Sportsmans Guide.
