Well, as many of you know I had a 30-30 turned into a 444 this spring. That rifle weighs very little and quite frankly is the heaviest recoiling rifle I've ever shot(even more uncomfortable than the 416 RM that belonged to a young soldier that I met at the range one day!). I've never been too recoil shy, but this one is proving to be a real kicker....and I'm getting to flinch when I shoot it....not good. So, I'm going to have to put a pad on it. The question is simply which one?

I've done a grind-to-fit LImbsaver pad once and it turned out OK, but I couldn't get the finish smooth enough for my liking. I'm thinking about a Decelorator pad and was hoping I could gather some input from you fine folks. The Limbsaver pad worked quite well....how does the Decelorator(or any others) compare?

Thanks,

Jason

Wal-Mart sales a Winchester brand recoil bad. $19.99.. I have been using it one one of my shotguns. It ain't half bad!!!!!!!!Make sure you look on the back of the package and match the size up to your gun you want to use it on...
Liked it so much that I will be using it when I used magnum type ammo, 12 gauge shotgun slugs and reloaded 4570 ammo..

I'll take a look, but I'm sure I'll be going the grind-to-fit route. I'll have to cut the stock down a little too so as not to lengthen the pull. That pretty much nocks out the simple replacement option. The rifle fits me good....just kicks like a horse on steroids. No pad on it now at all....just a hard plastic plate.
