Im debating on putting a Boyds thumbhole on my Mossberg 4x4 7mm mag before a Montana elk hunt this November. I've been reading about bedding techniques and have seen that only bedding the recoil lug can significantly increase accuracy without going thru the process of bedding the entire action. Im looking for a little step by step instructions on how to. Do i need to dremel a little of the stock where the recoil lug is placed to make room for the proper amount of bedding material? What are your recommendations on masking? Ive read about not masking anything, only masking the front of the lug, the sides, bottom and front, not masking the sides etc. etc. etc. Recommended bedding kits? Amount of bedding material?

Any help is appreciated.

You will need a Dremel.

Get on Brownell's website. They have tutorials that should get you started.

Midway and YouTube also have info.

BTW I do use masking tape.

yes you will need one and do entire action. I also tape and use vasoline inside the action. The recoil lug cut out to me is the most important part. It might be worth your while to pay some one to do it. If done incorrect you can make one heck of a mess.
