What are y'all "wiping down" your guns with? Metal and wood?

I was "taught" oil rag the entire gun...

After refinishing a few stocks I don't know about oil...especially on stocks...

I've tried wax and I really like it...it looks great..it CLEANS good..and it seems to actually protect better than oil...

Am I missing something? Or is wax the way to go?

If so...what wax are y'all using? I've honestly used car wax...not sure if there are "better" waxes etc?

For many years I have used G-96. It works better than anything else I have tried.

G96 on all none moving parts break free on moving parts, graphite on hinge pins. Never oil wood, it is not good for it.

My dad and I have been wiping down our guns with a rag soaked in triflo for years. I works well and I kinda like the smell
