Used these plans for our last extended power outage. Unfortunately, the water level in the well is too deep for a simple hand pump and I'm too cheap to buy the one designed for deep wells. You would probably need to pull the well pump to get it out of the way. I have 2 wells on the property (one with no pump - it wasn't producing enough water hence the 2nd well).

While it did work, I'm not quite sure about using the innertube material and may modify it to use a standard water line check valve. In any case it beat driving all over trying to find bottled water.

Should also note that it is recommended that anytime your water system is open, you should follow it up by sanitizing.
It's a simple procedure available on most agricultural extensions websites.
