I am not going to pretend that I am up to speed on what the Pope does on a daily basis but I do know being the Pope is a pretty big deal. Pope Francis is an espically big deal because he is the first one who is not from Europe.
I have been catholic my whole life but denomination has never been a big deal to me.
Just wondering if any of you have been following this, and if so, do you think the new Pope will have a positive effect on the current standing of the catholic church ?

When I saw the smoke I thought they were burning tires..
Interesting point... Just what exactly are they burning in there? And does Al Gore know about it?

Been a catholic my whole life, never felt further from it ...
I find the pomp & circumstance so confusing given the mass exodus
from the faith in anything but 3rd world predominately "Spanish" cultures & from the actions or lack of actions ....by the priests
& church leadership.... Did anyone else find it interesting that during the Pope election day(s)
They settled another 10 million dollar pay off for child molestation in L A ??
..& so far not one leader who participated in covering up these criminal predators
Has been charged?? No one?? Now the "retired" pope is in study & can no longer be accessed, interviewed ....
To me the Hypocrisy is more defining & deafening than any papal showboat...

I don't pay attention to the " pomp and circumstance ",
I get invigorated by the Mass every week!
I enjoy the beauty and simplicity of the Mass. Focus
on the cross nothing else matters.

Honestly, I dont know how anyone can follow a faith where child molestation takes place routinely and is covered up just as routinely. These clergymen are supposed to be doing the work of God but their actions lead me to believe that they are in service of His opposite number. What God acts and speaks through such a collection of perverts and spin doctors? Hyprocrisy doesn't even begin to describe it. These are the worst kind of animals, that would hurt a child in this way. The worst. They shouldn't be hidden away and their crimes pushed under the carpet. They should be executed!

I have been struggling with the molestation issues for many years. It also makes me sick knowing that some of my contributions are going towards lawsuits against pedophiles.
I really think they should allow catholic preists to marry.

Lord, make me an instrument of your peace,
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
Where there is injury, pardon;
Where there is doubt, faith;
Where there is despair, hope;
Where there is darkness, light;
Where there is sadness, joy.
O Divine Master,
grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled, as to console;
to be understood, as to understand;
to be loved, as to love.
For it is in giving that we receive.
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
and it is in dying that we are born to Eternal Life.
Amen

The prayer of St. Francis...for those looking to find fault.
